Raffstar.com

I just stumbled upon this truly awesome website: www.Raffstar.com

Check out the "About" section for full details, but basically they are a website (in beta testing) that legitimitely raffles off really cool prizes--including but not limited to electronics, gift cards, game consoles, iPods, and all kinds of neat stuff.  They are completely ad-supported, so there is no membership fees, nor dues to pay.  There's no catch, really.  As long as you don't live in Florida, New York, or Rhode Island (those states have strict laws regarding raffles I'm presuming...) it's pretty neat.  Some raffles will let you enter once every hour to improve your chances of winning.  Best of all, the site actually shows you the number of raffle tickets already entered so you have a pretty exact idea of your odds of winning.  The only tricky part is that once the raffle actually ends, if you are indeed notified that you have won, you must assert your claim to the prize within an hour of the raffle ending.  When you sign up for the site, it may be best to use an email address that you have access to wherever you go, I.E. a mobile phone text message inbox address, or the like.

The site is in beta testing, and some of the initial raffles are taking a hella long time to actually complete.  For example, the Xbox 360 raffle ends when the 60,000th ticket is taken.  However, at the time of this post, Raffstar.com only has about 2,000 or so registered users.  Once the masses discover the beauty of this site, the raffles will run much quicker, which is good, but your ability to claim multiple tickets for the same item in essence will decrease, which is bad.  That's sort of a tradeoff with many websites:  once too many people find out about it, it loses a little bit of intrinsic value.

Best of all, Raffstar donates a chunk of their revenue to a multitude of charities.  So by browsing through the site and entering raffles, you're really helping some worthwhile charities at the same time.  How cool is that?
